As someone who has spent more than half of her life as a student, I would like to believe that I know the importance of choosing the best school for my kids. I don’t like to leave stones unturned when it comes to school hunting for kids. There are lots of factors that one should put into consideration.
When I enrolled my first daughter into school, I wasn’t expecting anything exceptional anyway. I was just a first time mum who wished for her daughter to experience kindergarten within the confines of a school, like every other normal mum would. So you can imagine my rude awakening when my 2 year old came back home one day with a homework that asked,
“What is water? List the importance of water, etc.”
Shock was an understatement of the century for what I felt. It was like a bolt out of the blue. What the heck? Who asks a 2 year old such questions?
I went ahead to ask my Niki to explain what water was and the response I got was,
“Mummy I want caparison.”
Of course I didn’t even expect anything more… It was at that moment that it occurred to me that I wasn’t going to be satisfied with just any school for my kids.
I started my research for the best school based on tuition, an environment that fosters creativity, encourages various learning styles and was within close proximity to my place of residence and so on. Finally, I found just the perfect place that met all my requirements and more-Blooming Heritage School Abuja. Even hubby was okay with it, so I went ahead to apply as an educator. Fortunately, I got the offer and my first two girls, Niki and Steph who was barely 6 months old, joined me over there. Now that was the end of the ‘WATER’ ordeal and was I grateful?
No, I was beyond grateful… I was ecstatic. The school met and still meets all the requirements I highlighted and more. The kids are happy to be there and it provides the necessary safety, learning and academic panache. Now, the kids get to own their learning in a challenging way, yet amidst beer and skittles.
