Hi Lovelies,
It’s been a minute, I know… and yes, I haven’t gone AWOL.
LOL
I guess I have only been caught in the middle of the holiday vibes. Even though I had the intention of blogging all the way as soon as the car lag wore off, it didn’t happen like that at all, sadly.
I don’t really know why, except that the last couple of weeks have been like a whole new world of experience with recovering from the tiring effects of travelling with 3 kids by road, to catching up on events and loved ones who we haven’t seen in ages.
I was skeptical that you guys may have given up on me, considering the long break, but I am super excited and overwhelmed by the constant messages, views and show of love. This blog won’t be in existence today if not for God and you all. I appreciate everything and every one of you.
Now, for the experience…
For me, when I reminisce over New Year’s eve as a little girl, I remember playing games all night long in an effort to stay up until midnight, and then when the new year finally dawned, we went out on the porch and banged pots and pans or blew noise makers.
Nowadays, the Christmas and New Year periods have changed since having kids. Gone are the days of glamorous parties with family and friends. Instead, we now celebrate intimate and cozy house parties with the kids dressed in pajamas, Christmas hats and having Christmas movie marathon over snacks and cocktails. Still, I am usually very deliberate not to forget the reason for the season; Hence, we incorporate interesting activities like charity giving and other fun stuffs which I have shared in a previous post. We added a new one this year…
The Nativity Drama!
Yes, you read right.
It was hilarious and splendid at the same time; Even Michelle wasn’t left out of the fun. I will try to attach clips to this post. Celebrating with kids is a different life altogether, one I would not trade for all the glamorous parties in the world. In addition to the regular activities we are used to, we made resolutions, played charades, bingo, made dinner together and filled a gratitude journal as a fun way to get the kids involved in all the celebrations.
Over the past couple of days, the floor has been littered with crumpled and squashed papers from all the new year resolutions the kids have made:
I expected to see resolutions like, ‘Making better food choices and having less screen time.’
But rather I got resolutions like, ’I’ll sleep in my bed all night.’- Stephanie- she never sleeps in her bed till day break. She will always find her way to her mum’s bedside.
And ‘I will only wash plastic plates because I don’t want to break them again.’ – Nicole- she even included her reason. LOL
But half bread is better than none- they always say. So, I have to make do with the ones I got from the girls and hope that they abide by them.
Here’s wishing you a happy new year from the girls and I.
How do you celebrate New Year with your kids and family? Did you make a time capsule? Have you set your resolutions yet? It’s not too late to do so if you haven’t. It’s time to leave 2019 behind and celebrate the new decade. Get at it and Good luck!
Cheers!
