Do you agree that life can be what you make of it?
So technically, it can be enjoyable and interesting when you have the right tools…
…and apart from God, the most important tool is a positive and happy ‘You’ anytime.
You guys! As some of you already know, Nikimandi blog turned one towards the last few days of April 2019 and I’m so glad I started this little space when I did. Although I would have preferred it to be earlier, it’s still one of my major creative undertakings.
One of my best decisions ever!
And it wouldn’t have been possible without your support, so I say thank you. Even though it may not seem enough, I still appreciate you all and there’s so much I would like to post in the coming months. Permit me. #grinning from ear to ear.
Today, I want to share one of my most loved inspirational quotes with you.
‘A champion is defined not by their wins but by how they can recover when they fall’- Serena Williams.
For instance, swimming seems to me like a very difficult sport, a swimmer has to swim with direction and purpose while maintaining balance in synchronization in order not to drown. Even though I have occasionally tried swimming (not that I know how to), I can feel the difficulties just by watching another learner.
Three weekends ago, Niki and Steph were swimming with their cousins in their pool and I was strolling by when their activity caught my attention. They swim on a regular basis but on this particular occasion, I took my time to observe them and I discovered that Steph and her cousin sister, who was a few months older, were not as good at swimming as the others (I wasn’t surprised at this anyway because they were naturally the youngest there).
What fascinated me was the fact that after several attempts, they didn’t give up but kept trying energetically to be better amidst laughter and playful taunts from some of their older siblings. It was a hilarious sight but their resilience is gradually starting to pay off.
This is the same with how life works. Looking back at mine, I have gone through numerous ups and downs but I have learned and thrived through most of those failures. Still learning and thriving…
So you would agree with me that the bad thing is not ‘failing’ but refusing to get back up after a failure. Life is never, always a comedy; at times, it is a tragedy.
Sometimes, we experience failures and disappointment due to our own faults or that of others even. But in each setback, we should find an opportunity to grow.
I’m astonished to read and hear about people being depressed and committing suicides most of the time. Why???
Please don’t navigate through life alone.
When you feel downcast and crestfallen, look for hope in God and others- family, friends, church and so on. Don’t keep your emotions bottled up.
Be the champion in Serena William’s quote and always remember that the true test of a champion is not whether he can triumph but whether he can overcome obstacles.
If your mind can conceive it and your heart believe it, then you can achieve it! –Muhammed Ali.
Your fire must not be quenched. Rekindle the flame if it’s burning low. What’s not to like about life? All the blessings abound, just reach out and grab them. Grace!
XOXO,
Yours Truly.
