Hi Lovelies,
I just had a cat nap and it felt so good!
How about you? How have you been and how are you holding up in the wake of this novel pandemic? I don’t know what you may be going through at this time, but one thing I felt I should share is that you should still remember that you are not alone. Someone has been through that before and yet that someone has overcome. It’s not easy but it’s doable. You only live once, so please do it right:
· Take several deep breaths into your stomach, it has been scientifically proven to help calm one’s nerves.
· Learn to accept what life offers in stride, if that’s what it takes. Be a goal getter but don’t be insatiable. Steve Job’s last words on earth before he died of pancreatic cancer struck me:
”…Whichever stage in life we are right now, with time, we will face the day when the curtain comes down. Treasure love for your family, love for your spouse, love for your friends… treat yourself well and cherish others…”
So are you being productive this period because you may not get this much free time ever again?
Or
Are you sleeping and slacking because you may not get this much free time ever again?
Or
Are you striking a balance and being intentional with every choice you make?
· Develop a closer relationship with God.
· Keep a journal; write down your thoughts and ideas. Keep your sanity intact. Trust me on this, it will always suffice, especially as a mum.
· Work Out!(I can’t say much on this, I’m still a novice *covers eyes with both hands*)
· Be creative and do something productive.
· Go out into nature and explore, take a walk, take a ride, whatever comes in handy to take you outdoors for a while or just to get a breath of fresh air, while practising all the safety measures. (I explained the outdoor part in a recent post). Don’t go about breaking the lockdown curfew rules.
· Eat right, don’t binge-eat. It’s not healthy and you’ll simply end up hating yourself for it.
· Explore online learning- School reopened for my kids and I a couple of days ago and it hasn’t been bad at all. It has really helped to reduce screen time and concentrate on some more concrete form of learning. It has been fun for the kids and the school has been so intentional with putting out quality and fun contents through the use of educational apps and websites. Have you started homeschooling? How is it going?
· Develop a healthy sleep pattern. (Mine is still work in progress, which I will share in a subsequent post.
Snippet-What with sleeping at 12 am, only to see myself waking up three hours later to take a sleepy child to wee, then struggling to fall asleep again but only succeeding in tossing and turning for an hour… finally able to get an extra hour or two before day breaks and then mom/wife/other duty calls… my sleep pattern is anything but healthy. Please watch out for that post.)
If you are in a supportive relationship, have a roof over your head, food and supplies in your home, if you’re not suffering from a health crisis and if you haven’t lost any loved one to Covid -19, then be grateful for all you have, because there are some who are not as privileged.
For what it’s worth, if you are going through any form of stress this period, I offer you my good will messages and prayers now more than ever. This too shall pass, believe me. God is in control.
What else works for you this period, especially as a mum? Please share and help out someone or two.
Like I said before, I just had a cat nap and yes, it felt so good!
XOXO
Yours Truly.
