Hey Lovelies!
It has been a marathon for me these past few weeks. What with moving house and juggling a 9 to 5, with family too. But it has all been worth it. Not like it’s unheard of anyway, cos I have a friend who juggled so much more and still moved house like four times within a span of a few months.
Call her a Wonder Woman, it’s a befitting title.
Ok, time to get straight to the point.
From experience, there are a few tips that I would like to share when moving house because believe it or not, I don’t think there is anyone on the surface of the earth who looks forward to the hassle of moving house. For me I know I didn’t, it was just the excitement of moving into a new and bigger space that kept me going.
Ok, first things first, make a plan to start packing at least weeks or months before the big day.
I bought bags and paper tapes to serve this purpose and labelled everything meticulously. Then I put some basic essentials like important documents, medications, toiletries, chargers, into a bag and lablled it too.
Ensure to buy things you will cook and use right away to minimize wastage or spoilage of food.
My mum was able to pay a short visit and this really helped tremendously, God bless her. So please if you can call on friends, family and neighbours for extra support, it will make things to go even more smoothly.
Believe me, it saved me a whole lot of stress.
Whew!
Just when I thought the hardest part of moving was over,…
Wait for it…
…then came the almighty D day; even with the removal van and guys doing all the heavy lifting, the organizing and arranging were still a lot of work.
Did I mention the unpacking?
Ok, maybe that would come in a whole new post because that’s story for another day. I also made a video about this for my channel-Nikimandi Vlogs. Hoping to edit and upload soon for your viewing pleasure. Please subscribe if you haven’t yet. I’m certainly counting down to the Easter break.
Hubz employed the services of a moving company who did a perfect job with moving the items, while making sure there weren’t any broken, spoilt or missing items along the line.
I know you may be thinking that moving house is not so easy after all, expecially if you haven’t done so in a really long time. I’m not here to put out any disclaimer, I’m here to just help make it easier in my own little way cos this is like one of the most herculean tasks ever.
Moving house can be extremely draining so be sure to take regular breaks and take care of yourself during the whole process.
All in all, I’m grateful to God that I got to achieve this part of my vision board during the first quarter of this year which is way before I actually planned and anticipated.
Have you moved house in recent past? What part of the whole moving house chaos did you enjoy the most and which was the most daunting of it all?
Please share your experiences and thanks for stopping by. It always means a lot to me.
XOXO,
Yours Truly
